Patricia Amati (Recotta)

Patricia Amati (Recotta)

Tuesday, February 3rd, at the age of 78. Predeceased by her parents, Donald and Sophie Amati and her sister-in-law, Margaret Amati. She is survived by her beloved daughter, Susan (Jeremy) Smalline and her father, Robert Recotta; adoring grandchildren, Alexia and Owen Smalline; brother, Richard Amati; niece, Victoria (Tyler) Pabis; great nephew and great niece, Grayson and Elise.

A loving mother and proud grandmother, she was also a devoted sister, aunt and friend. She lived a life defined by intelligence, compassion, and authenticity. After earning her undergraduate degree from Buffalo State University, she went on to receive her master’s degree from SUNY Geneseo. For more than 30 years, she dedicated her career to teaching at the Rochester School for the Deaf, where she cherished her coworkers and deeply valued the community she served. She found peace at Keuka lake, loved traveling, was a devoted fan of the Rolling Stones and longed for the days when she was able to dance. An avid reader with a love for science fiction and the absurd, she also cherished her computer and the endless knowledge it offered. Her sharp mind was perfectly balanced by a satirical sense of humor that could catch anyone off guard and leave them laughing when they least expected it. She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew her.

Patricia’s Memorial Mass will be held Friday, May 15th at 10:00 am at St. Kateri at St. Margaret Mary Church. A private burial will be held at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Corning, NY. Funeral arrangements entrusted to Rick Harris Jr.

To Patti's Family!

I met Patti when both CFA and NHS merged and became Corning East High School in 1963.

Patti was a very friendly, caring young lady who was loved and respected by many.  She was very popular!

My thoughts and prayers go out to all of her family.

Blessings!
