I just heard about Joel's passing and have to admit the news has hit me pretty hard. Regretably, Joel and I lost contact many years ago but I thought about him often. Growing up in Corning, Joel and I became very close, due in large part to our mutual love of golf. I could never hold a candle to him but, even so,  I couldn't hazard a guess at the number of times we played toghether at CCC or so many other courses throughout the Finger Lakes. In those days, he was rarely over par and I was rarely under 80 but he never hesitated to let me tag along. I even caddied for him when he won his first CCC championship in 1965 and we continued our friendship after high school. I could tell story after story about the things we did outside of our golfing experinences but that will have to happen at another time. My condolences to Ardith and their children at this time of sorrow. On a positive note, Joel was a true born-again Christian which means that we will all be together again soon.

C.B. and I will greatly miss our lifetime friend.  So many memories through the years of basketball, golf, walks and talks, family times together, travel and business associations. Joel was committed to serving our military heroes and first reponders.  We had many conversations about his desire to do more for them.  He was positive and planning for the future right up to the end. We will miss him so much, but we know where he is spending Eternity. Joel loved and served his Lord Jesus Christ, and we will be together again.

I am so saddened to hear of Joel's passing. He was a great guy and a friend to all of us during our high school years. He was multi-talented and, after reading his obituary, that didn't change after we left East High. I send my condolences to his family. He will be missed.

What a shock, condolences to the family, and all the friends.  This made me reminisce about all the laughs, good times (and not so good), victories, and NOT.  Sometimes it's good that there is a 'statute-of-limitations'.

Good-bye my friend!

I am so sorry to hear of Joel's death.  He lived about a block from our family and was a childhood and school friend for quite a few years.  It is way too early for any of us to be departing.  I wish his family the best.
